Language Connect Are Crowned Business Language Champions
Language Connect has completed the first in a planned series of interactive school workshops aimed at encouraging secondary school pupils to realise the benefits of language learning.
Language Connect devised the workshops in close collaboration with the Convent of Jesus and Mary Language College in Willesden, London to educate its students about career opportunities in the translation and interpreting services industry. The workshops confirm Language Connect’s commitment to support the Business Language Champions programme which is aimed at inspiring young people to learn languages through interaction with the business community.
The Convent of Jesus and Mary Language College was an ideal choice for the workshops because of its specialist status as a language college and the large numbers of its pupils for whom English is a second language. Following consultation with the school, Language Connect designed the first workshop for Year 10 and 11 students whose first language is Polish.
The workshop’s aim was to help students realise that their natural linguistic abilities could lead to opportunities in higher education and even a career in the language services industry. The workshop successfully achieved this goal by involving the students in an interactive session where they could directly use their bilingual skills in a face-to-face interpreting context. A Language Connect interpreter demonstrated with other staff some typical interpreting scenarios to help the students understand the basic principles. The students then created and acted out role play dialogues themselves in scenarios such as a doctor’s surgery and a courtroom. The best role plays were rewarded with Language Connect certificates.
ERROR IN HISTORY: GREECE IS NOT THE CRADLE OF PHILOSOPHY
1.0. INTRODUCTION
According to Oxford Dictionary, history is “the study of past events.” It is important that the citizens of a country have knowledge of the important past events that have taken place in the country. In the same vein every student of philosophy is expected not only to have knowledge of the history of philosophy but a first class knowledge of it, if he or she desires to become an outstanding philosopher. As a division of studies, the History of Philosophy tries to investigate the past of men in their rational venture. According to William Turner the History of Philosophy is “the exposition of philosophical opinions and of systems and schools of philosophy.” The History of Philosophy does not only deal with the positions, systems and schools of philosophy, but also gives considerations to the lives of philosophers, the common link of the systems and schools of thought, moreover, it also makes an effort to trace the route of philosophical progression and retrogression.
The general conception, even among professional philosophers, is that Greece is the cradle of philosophy. Therefore, almost all the available histories of philosophy, and philosophers themselves, agree that the so-called Pre-Socratics were the first or earliest philosophers, at least, in the Western world. Unlike the early thinkers of India and China, the Pre-Socratics did not think exegetically out of ancient scriptures or poems, but they spoke “as disrespectfully of the greatest poets they did to each other.” The most excellent reason for this popular conception is that first known philosophers in history lived among the Greeks. According to some authors in history of philosophy, the pre- Socratics were Greeks. Indeed, no one has ever succeeded in writing a complete history of philosophy; for philosophy like the works of arts, are intensely personal things. Our aim is to attempt a justification on why Greece may not necessarily be the cradle of philosophy.
Bible, Science, Creation, Evolution/Atheism, Civilization and Eternity
“To the influence of this Book we are indebted for the progress made in civilization, and to this we must look as our guide in the future”. – Ulysses Grant (President, 1869-77, of the U.S)
The Bible has been acknowledged over the years as covering every subject of human knowledge and need now and forever (Finis Dake, Bible scholar); as one incomparably so various and full of concentrated wisdom (Herbert Hoover, President, 1929-33, of the U.S); and as the first and almost the only book deserving of universal attention (John Quincy Adams, the second President, 1797-1801, of the U.S).
Science as the study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world and society agrees with scriptures at the end of the day if thorough observation and quality experiment is carried out. Until the findings of science confirm the truth of scriptures, science is only mid-stream, yet to find anchor. To understand nature the best recourse is the God of Nature who has spoken twice: through nature and through His Word (the Bible), and both align perfectly. Galileo (1564 – 1642) and Francis Bacon (1561 – 1626), two earliest scientists knew this. For Galileo, with his groundbreaking feats in astronomy and physics, the scriptures cannot lie, only the interpreter of it may. And for Francis Bacon, author of modern scientific reasoning: induction, and hence seen as father of modern science, there are two indispensable books – the book of nature and the Bible. TRUE SCIENCE AFFIRMS BIBLE Indeed, all the conclusions of science between 600 BC and 200 AD – regarded as the first age of science – that are still relevant today agree with scriptures.

Home-Schooling Researched
Educators, Parents, Students lend me your ears, my name is Katie Criss and I am going to discuss home schooling with you. Currently there is a very heated debate over the issue of Home schooling in America. Today I am going to present you with my views on this critical subject. When I say “my views” I’m not going to stick my finger in the air to see what way the wind is blowing with this issue of home schooling. I know there are two sides, and supporters of both.. Rather I am going to present to you my viewpoints with opinion and research on why I am a critic of home schooling.
When I asked myself the question, How do you feel about home schooling? I first thought “Why would anyone do that” So I researched exactly that, What are the reasons that people give of why they choose to homeschool and how valid are they.
One reason that I frequently found through research was that parents home schooled their children because of the violence found in public schools. My response to this is Yes, there is violence in public schools, However, there are many preventive measures that are taken to avert this violence and most schools have incorporated a Zero-tolerance policy. Parents justify themselves by reciting isolated incidents to help build their case for home schooling. My message to parents who use this excuse to validate themselves is, first ask yourself the question, Is their violence in my neighborhood. I am sure if you are living in Harlem, New York compared to South Park, Pennsylvania there is going to be an immense difference in the crime of the area. My next question is, how do you expect to protect your child from all the dangers of society? Home schooling your child is a parents attempt to isolate their child from the real world scary stories. If you are afraid of your child being bullied, what will happen when your child becomes an adult and meets a bullying boss? This is a real-world story; children need the exposure to different people. Why? Simple, because nobody in this world is the same.
Benefits of Regionally Accredited Online Colleges
College education is an important part of a youngster’s life. It equips a person with the skills he or she requires to pursue a future career in his or her chosen field of study. But everyone is not necessarily lucky to study in a college or university and there are many youngsters who are forced to start working due to their circumstances. For such people regionally accredited online colleges are a great blessing.
There are generally six regional accreditation bodies in the USA. They look after the accreditation of the educational institutions within their specific geographical location. One has a choice of many courses that are offered by the regionally accredited colleges which encompass a number of fields of study that range from a bachelor’s degree to a PhD doctorate degree.
Regionally accredited online colleges are held in high esteem. In fact, these are the same regionally accredited traditional brick and mortar colleges that offer online degree programs in addition to on-campus education. Before gaining accreditation, colleges are investigated by the accrediting body so as to ensure that the college meets certain quality standards.
There is no difference between the online degrees you get from a regionally accredited online university with the on-campus degree from the same university. The internet classrooms and lecture halls are similar to those found in any college campus. Those students who desire to pursue a degree program in any regionally accredited online college have to fulfill certain pre-requisites while choosing their course of study. They can easily utilize chat rooms and message boards to communicate with their professors and also other fellow students.
